It was just short of a month ago that I posted about some rain finally arriving to help end the weeks and weeks long drought that dried wells and woods in our area. A drought long enough to remind us how precious water really is. Well now I am happy to attest that this drought is definitely in the past as mother Nature has graced us with a whole lot of rain. A huge surplus of rain. And we didn’t complain. We just watched as the lake level went up and some things came back to life. Then we hoped that much of this water would find its way down to the water table before the ground freezes as that is a much slower process.
Right now, the lake is actually higher than normal. Here are some low and highs for comparison.
The shore went from wide to nonexistent.

Our little beach is submerged.

Our burn pile has become an island

And again, we are not complaining. We are thankful. It’s water, and we know how precious water is.
Thank you for reading.

Same situation here. We finally got quite a bit of rain, but we also got temps below freezing. I hope the folks with challenged wells here are doing okay. Your lakefront view if beautiful.

Thank you. Luckily we haven’t got the freezing temperatures here yet. Hopefully you will get some milder temperatures before winter settles in for its duration. We look to have a few nice days coming up.

Beautiful pictures, Jenn. I’m so happy to hear that you finally have water. I remember well this reaction when we finally got rain in 2023.

It is such a relief for so many people. I am thinking our burn pile might get ignited in skating season.

We’ve had quite a few episodes of flooding the last few weeks – last week was the worst I’d seen – my friend couldn’t go home so had to stay another night and I couldn’t get to the first week of my computing course in the city. But the worst is going to be tonight/tomorrow… it’s raining all night and then freezing hard in the morning – everywhere will be an ice rink for a few days as it’s not scheduled to thaw out until Saturday morning 😦
Glad you’ve got your rain though – we never had a shortage this summer here…

Ug I hate when it freezes after it rains. So many accidents happen then. I am always glad that I no longer have to drive in it.

That’s exactly what I’ve been glad of the last 2 years! I fell very sorry for those trying to get to work in the early mornings when it’s like that!

That’s quite a difference in water levels. It must have poured for quite a few days. Hopefully it won’t freeze too soon. Maggie

Yes it’s a huge difference in water levels. We did have quite a lot of rainy days in the past month. The next few days are going to be dry and still above freezing m, which will help get everything closer to normal.

Lakes look more natural when the water supply is abundant. We just returned from South Dakota today after spending eleven days with our son and his family. The day after we arrived, they got six inches of snow, but later in the week, they reached record highs in the 70s.

Sounds like a little bit of everything on that trip. I am sure you enjoyed it, especially your grandson. I definitely prefer a lake that is high than one that is low.

What a difference! We finally got some rain here too… and more is expected later this week. It’s supposed to be a dryish winter here in SoCal so we’ll see.

The last thing you guys need is a dryish winter so I hope you get some more rain to help the cause.
