It was difficult to refer to it as a storm. It was so quiet. No roaring winds or angry-looking trees. It fell slowly over a twenty-hour period. Sometimes large lazy flakes gently drifting downwards. Other times smaller more determined flakes taking a straighter, more direct route. It was still falling when we crawled in bed last night; and I, after a surprisingly good night’s sleep, something that is rare, woke up anxious in an excited way to see the result.
And what a beautiful result…

… one that I got to enjoy from the comfort of my cozy home now that my heat pump is fixed. It only took 6 months.

Gotta love virgin snow. Especially when you’re warm and you don’t have to drive in it.
Thank you for reading.

Nothing beats the view of a fresh snow fall. We have zero snow here in Calgary, which for Feb is very strange, but even worse for the ski resorts. Enjoy your view today! Maggie

Thanks. Soon my view will be my husband using the snow blower. So glad he can still do that. No snow in Calgary this time of the year. That is strange.

We had a similar soft floofy quiet “storm” here yesterday, too. The pristine snow in the pink dawn was quite wonderful. I’m still boycotting “outside” but I can appreciate the beauty from “in here.” :)

I hear ya. Except for the dawn thing because I am never up that early.

there is that brief window of time when I enjoy a good snowstorm, and you have done a wonderful job of capturing that window. but then, reality sets in…

Yup. The snowblower is out. We need to see the black asphalt driveway. I will be looking forward to a time when I don’t have to wear winter boots.

We’ve had quite cold weather, so the snow has stuck around for way too long. Looking forward to summer days.

So beautiful and crisp looking. After a snow like this everything slows down a little. Beautiful pictures!

Thanks. It is very picturesque out there today. It’s been pretty slow on our end of the street this morning. Several retirees at this end. We move slower at the best of tomes.

That last statement is probably the truest words ever spoken! But, despite hating winter, I do love snow (like you say now I don’t have to drive to work) and enjoy either walking or sledging in it – or even just looking at it. All that lovely, soft, thick whiteness. Great photos! made me smile

Glad to provide a smile now and then. We might as well appreciate the beauty of snow since it comes whether we like winter or not.

Those are gorgeous pictures, Jenn. A lovely gentle snowfall like that is wonderful but you’re very right, as long as you don’t have to go out in it!

Thanks. Yes I been doing indoor during projects during this winter weather while I watch the season from indoors so, needless to say some things are getting done.

Beautiful scenes!
Winter has been unpleasant here in Pennsylvania. I’m very much looking forward to Spring.

I used to live in Toronto so winter in the city is something I am familiar with. Grey slush and cold winds whipping between buildings is not at all pleasant

Wow! It really dumped. Snow without the wind is such a bonus.

It fulfils many of my conditions for beauty in snow, including being seen from a warm house and being several thousand miles away. That’s how I like snow.
Glad the pump is fixed. :-)

The key here, for me, is the warm house. I am so happy that the heat pump is fixed.

I despise winter (sorry, winter), but every spring here in New England I say, “oh, thank you winter, you helped bring on this glorious cacophony of flower and colors and bight hope.” But. Still. We got two feet of snow. Plus. I took pictures, but begrudgingly. :-) We also got a heat pump, btw. In October. The hybrid kind so we use our gas furnace when it’s under 35 degrees. But it stopped on Christmas Day (good timing). they fixed it the next day. Then two weeks ago when it was 7 degrees, it stopped. They fixed it two hours later. Sigh. But we’re helping the environment by switching to heat pumps! Stay warm.

Absolutely! The best part of winter is that it is followed by spring, and that snow will also help our well. I actually went solar to help the environment. Plus I drive an electric car. I do what I can, but that heat pump was working against me this year. I had so many repair guys in a 6-month period, we were on a first name basis. I am enjoying the heat now. Fingers crossed that it will last.

Crossing fingers for both of us. And yes, I got to know the techs on first name basis too – nice guys. One day the CEO/President of the heat pump company came to apologize and promise “we will always have your back.” Just give me heat!! :-)

Wow, that is beautiful! I’m not a big fan of cold, but it’s fun to see pictures of winter wonderlands.

Oh believe me, no matter how beautiful it looks, I am always happy when spring arrives and the cold is all over for another season.
