I am very fortunate to live in such a beautiful province. People come here all year round. Although I prefer to be a bit warmer, I have to admire these guys. They surf just down the road from me.
Thanks for reading

Great video Jenn. I didn’t know about Nova Scotia’s winter surfing, but I’m going to send it to my friend who winter surfs in Southern Ontario. Maggie

I thought it was pretty cool and Lawrencetown beach was my favourite beach when I was younger. Every time we go there are surfers. Hope it inspires your friend to visit.

it looks so pretty there

I think so, but I am biased. Nova Scotia is a peninsula with over 13,000 km (8000 miles) of shoreline so there are a lot of pretty views here.

I miss the maritimes! I see winter surfers in Ontario too and all I can do is shake my head. We just had tyhe Polar Bear Plunge here…another ‘cool’ tradition :)

They do Polar Bear Plunges here too. Personally I prefer to stay warm and dry. I will leave all the cold and wet stuff to others who are much more hearty and who can swim.

It takes such incredible balance, among other things, to surf. I don’t know how surfers do it. I couldn’t in a million years.

Neither could I. I just watch from afar when I am at the beach.

That’s amazing. Thanks for sharing the video. There’s a lot of kite surfing here especially in late autumn when the prevailing wind blows right up the valley. Surfing or kite surfing is completely beyond me. I tried surfing a couple of times when I was a teenager and got hammered. Adding a kite to the mix would just be insult to injury. No talent for it at all!

Kite surfing is also popular here in the summer. Fun to watch I am with you though, I have no talent or coordination for surfing of any kind. Plus I really can’t swim, except maybe a little dog paddling.

Wow, you really have to be committed to surfing to do it in the winter. Heck, I have a hard time getting up on water skis on a calm lake.

I agree. The water at that beach is ice cold in the summer. I would run in fast just yo play in the waves in the summer when I was younger, but haven’t done that in many years.

I only ever once tried to surf and that was when I was a kid and found a plank on the beach. I got several good wettings and then gave up!

A kid with a plank. Would have made a good comedy skit.
