Day lilies, even ditch lilies because they remind me of my grandmother, always make my day. They are all lovely, although they sometimes don’t stick around for the photo shoot.

There are so many varieties of them and they’re always so pretty. 😊

I have some day lilies but yours put mine to shame. The one you chose for the cover photo?
Stunning!

There is a guy down the highway who breeds/creates new cultivars of day lilies. Then he registers them with some elite society and sells them for a small fortune, or at least a small fortune to me. Sometimes he has a big sale that includes the ones he didn’t register, which you can get cheap. I like cheap. They don’t need a name for me to enjoy them. Those are the ones you admired. The no-name lilies. I am terrible with names anyway.

The no names are the prettiest!

Very pretty! Question from someone who lives in a mild year-round climate: do you have to plant daylilies each your or do they hibernate and resurface when the snow melts?

They are perennials so they come back every spring. They start poking through in April unless it is very cold and still snowy.

I adore daylillies. In our previous home we had a variety of them, but in this home we have too many deer around who eat them, so no more. I’ll enjoy yours from afar.

I think I have to many other things that the deer like better. Funny though , the deer ate the blooms from the Asiatic lilies but didn’t touch the day lilies right next to them. Hopefully they won’t notice them and we can continue to enjoy them going forward.

I know there are gardeners who have moved past daylilies, but I’m not one of them. I like them and enjoy their beautiful blooms even if they are short lived. We have one plant sale customer who is populating a field of them so every year I’m one of the very few MGs who can supply plants to sell to him. He likes the orange ones too. :-)

I don’t think i will ever move past day lilies or all the other old-fashioned hardy perennials I have in my garden. I think a field of day lilies would be absolutely beautiful.

Lilies are beautiful and those are superb. I have 10 orange ones in a pot outside but the flowers never last a whole week – everyone else in the area has them last a lot longer. I think it’s being in a pot they’re not keen on. I do try to feed and water them regularly, especially before and after flowering.

It would be nice if they lasted longer the day lily blooms only last a day so I am always glad when they are established enough that they get many flowers.

mine are ‘established’ as such but I’m going to repot them this year to see if that boosts them a bit.
