  1. He seems to be the only one to liaise with Putin though to try to intervene in his illegal invasion of Ukraine. Shame all the other politicians and leaders don’t ‘step up to the plate’ on that one!

    1. He has accused Ukraine of starting the war and Zelensky of being a dictator. Not true. He has humiliated Zelensky and said that they have to pay back all the US aid that the former government provided. That’s not how aid works or what was on the table when it was offered. He wants Ukraine to provide minerals to the US until he feels they have paid the aid back. The man is a crook whose ego is larger than his country. Trump has been Putin’s buddy up until this week, now Trump is angry with him because Trump wants credit for ending the war and Putin isn’t playing along.
Sorry. We get so much US news here in Canada one can’t help but be passionate and exhausted by all that is happening.

      1. I can understand your feelings – we don’t really have anything to do with it and we know fairly little about it all over here. I just wish some of our leaders would get involved in talks with Putin – they’ve had 3 years to do so and have done nothing except provide arms and aid to Ukraine (and homes for the refugees). I did see that Trump was accusing Zelensky and the Ukraine of stirring up the trouble though – he can’t really think so so it must have been to further his own political ends.

  2. I agree with others that it’s unsettling. But what bothers me more is that no one from his own party has disagreed or pooh-poohed it. I tell myself that they’re just looking out for themselves. Letting nature take its course. He would be in his 80s for this to happen. But what’s more unsettling is the numbers of people on the far right who would be in favor of this. Ugh!!

    1. It is like his own party just wanted to be in charge no matter the cost so they let him run ignoring the possible outcomes. Now they are burying their heads in the sand. By the time they look back up Trump could dismantle the country’s democracy.

  3. The number of things he floats to see if he gets pushback is alarming. I keep thinking is this the one that will make *everyone* rise up? I wonder what that thing will be because it’s been strangely silent on the 3rd term idea.

  4. I think he will just ignore the law and do what he wants, just as he has continued to do with this fake fentanyl “emergency” that Canada is supposedly causing. He’s a narcissistic sociopath and is behaving like one. What’s really disturbing is the the continued lack of internal opposition to him. This suggests that people are really scared since he and Musk are basically already running a dictatorship.

We in Canada are going to have to be strong, determined and resolute and I believe that I f we stick with our principles we will be okay. The U.S., on the other hand, is more likely to collapse. I don’t know if you’ve read this interesting article: https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/american-invasion-of-canada-would-spark-decades-long-insurgency-expert-predicts/

  5. I mean nothing surprises me anymore about Trump. After the 2016 election, I thought people would feel foolish to have supported the guy. Yet, somehow he seems to be made of teflon, despite all of the despicable behavior.
